The vineyard is established on sedimentary rock while the complex subsoil consists of different layers of gravel, marl and pebbles.
The soil of Saint-Julien is often referred to as «a geological mosaic».
Grape varieties
Cabernet-Sauvignon is the majority grape variety, building the backbone of the wine, while Merlot brings riper notes. Petit Verdot and Cabernet Franc contribute to the flavor with floral hues.
Particularity
Its bouquet full of nobility assembles a rich aromatic palette (black fruits and spices in particular), contributing to the charm of its wines.
